Living Rooms? Do you remember when there were sitting rooms in some homes, lounge rooms in others, some families even called them gathering rooms? I think we can agree now, that ‘living rooms’ is a much more appropriate name in the 21st millennium 🙂

In the early 1900s, living rooms were usually large and formal. Furniture was placed against the walls, and family members sat in chairs with cushions.

Living Room

Today, living rooms are more informal. People usually sit on comfortable sofas and chairs. There is more room for conversation and for games and hobbies.

Just like our lifestyles, they come in all shapes and sizes, styles and colours and are furnished to suit both needs and personalities. Put simply, a living room is a room in which one lives.

A bit more specifically, it’s a social space, usually, in a house, that’s used for entertaining guests and completing tasks that require a more comfortable, relaxed environment than the rest of the house.

Living rooms are typically furnished with two types of seating: there are comfortable chairs for relaxation and conversation, as well as couches for television viewing and gaming.

What kind of living rooms do you wish to have?

Formal

Some living rooms are used for entertaining guests and entertaining guests is often synonymous with entertaining in the living room. However, it is not the only place where people entertain guests.

In the past, the formal living room was considered the room where you received guests because there was a social expectation that it would be a formal room.

Casual

These rooms are the entry point to a home and they are a place where guests are welcomed, entertained and even spend the night.

The way they are set up is therefore of the utmost importance, so it is vital that the casual living room makes the perfect first impression and adds to the appeal of the home. In order to achieve this, living rooms should be spacious, comfortable, welcoming and above all, stylish.

Formal living rooms can have a lot of furniture and even heavy-looking pieces, but a casual living room should be light and breezy. It should be inviting, but without being over-cluttered.

Cozy

Cozy living rooms are typically defined by their use of fabrics, colours, and textures, as well as their overall size. These living rooms may be small or huge, but pack a lot of personality, colour, and textural interest into a space that can feel anywhere from snug to tight.

The room is kept cozy by keeping the walls simple and white while adding colourful cushions, rugs and furniture.

Modern

Modern living rooms are not your typical living rooms, the furniture is made of modern style, the colour will be dominant white, black, or even brown, and the decoration in the living room will be very simple.

In the modern living room, you will find the modern design of the sofa, the tables, the television stand, and the lighting.

The lighting is the most important part to create a comfortable atmosphere, modern living rooms are popular with their lighting, the light is usually soft and bright, the lamp will be bright in the living room, and the lamp is usually made of metal pipe, cloth.

The lamp is suspended in the living room, and the lampshade is made of transparent plastic so that the lighting is very soft
