New York, US – James H. Johnson Architecture
Year built: 1971
When Robert and Marguerite Antell purchased a 1.2-acre vacant lot, they wanted a custom-built home that had a “natural, honest feeling” and was “informal, open and comfortable.” Upon hearing this description of their dream home, architect James H. Johnson reportedly handed the Antells a glass Coke bottle with three stems of Queen Anne’s Lace inside, telling them “this is your home.”

The final result was a home made up of five interconnected pods, situated on a hill at the tree line. Built in 1971, the home was recently on the market at US1.1 million.
