Cloister: “a covered walk in a convent, monastery, college, or cathedral, typically with a colonnade open to a quadrangle on one side.” Evolution: 500 years a cloister, 20 years a fabric store, now an apartment.
Designed for a young family, this conversion allows inner-city living in one of the world’s great cultures. By enclosing the original colonnade and converting what was the fabric store, the new owners have all that they hoped for in inner-city living.
