Faced with the dilemma of very old and brittle brickwork on the existing building, the owners and architects agreed on a free-standing extension to the home. Only a single doorway connects the old with the new.
The addition covers four floors including the roof deck, kitchen, living room and balcony and although directly on street frontage on two sides, the owners have opted for a glass-house with the only window coverings being the metalwork that gives the house it’s barcode appearance.
It’s not a home for the faint-hearted or retiring types.
