Bordeaux, France – Bruit do Frigo
OK – so like me you’re probably curious about a company that calls itself ‘Noise from the Fridge”. My French and Google Translate aren’t enough to answer all the questions I had but here is the summary…
In a fascinating experiment, these shelters are being built around the periphery of Bordeaux to house hikers rediscovering the city. So far only four of a planned 13 shelters have been built. We can’t wait to see what these minds conjure up for the next nine. The 36 images we have here are just a sampling of what can be found on their website. I got lost for at least an hour trying to get my head around the whole thing. Here are some notes taken from their page (as translated by Google):
A new type of equipment for a new public urban use. To embody and promote the practice of hiking, and more generally to promote the (re) discovery of the territory, we propose to implement a series of shelters around Urban Community of Bordeaux.
Refuges for walkers as high mounting. Shelters for those who wish to experience a retreat unusual in the city. Shelters for visitors seeking alternative accommodation. Shelters forms desirable, all unique, between sculpture and architecture, between work and construction, able to offer its occupants a spatial experience memorable and poetic.
