They have basically become \u201cuseless\u201d things that just gather dust but I love them. And since I don\u2019t have the courage to sell or give them away, I have decided to upcycle some of them in a couple of ways. Here\u2019s one project I did which took about an hour \u2013 a book clock!<\/p>\n<p>You should try it on one of your books, especially if you\u2019ve been thinking of buying a new clock. This would be a better idea \u2013 cheaper and unique! It would also be a cool\u00a0gift for friends and family <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-smiley\" src=\"http:\/\/ideas2live4.com\/crafts\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/icon_smile.gif\" alt=\":)\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5026\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/Vintage-Book-Clock-Main00001.jpg\" alt=\"Vintage Book Clock\" width=\"800\" height=\"532\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Materials:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hardbound Book<\/li>\n<li>Clock Kit<\/li>\n<li>Sharp Cutter\/Craft Knife<\/li>\n<li>Metal Ruler<\/li>\n<li>Awl \u2013 or any sharp object to make a small hole on the cover<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5027\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/Vintage-Book-Clock00001.jpg\" alt=\"Vintage Book Clock\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Choose a nice hardbound book: The cover should have a plain and \u00a0simple design so that\u00a0you won\u2019t have a hard time reading the clock. It would also be nice if you could get one with a relevant title.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5028\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/Vintage-Book-Clock00002.jpg\" alt=\"Vintage Book Clock\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A really old book \u2013 one with yellow pages \u2013 would be better for a vintage touch.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5029\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/Vintage-Book-Clock00003.jpg\" alt=\"Vintage Book Clock\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Buy\/get a clock set that would fit \u00a0inside your book, of course <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-smiley\" src=\"http:\/\/ideas2live4.com\/crafts\/wp-includes\/images\/smilies\/icon_smile.gif\" alt=\":)\" \/> Clock kits are cheap and they are not difficult to find. Some of you may even get to\u00a0choose the hands that will go with the mechanism. Consider this when choosing your clock. It should match the style of your book, and again, must be easy to look at.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5030\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/Vintage-Book-Clocks00001.jpg\" alt=\"Vintage Book Clock\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Determine the placement of your clock. If you plan to make it stand on a table or shelf, keep in mind that the minute hand should not rotate past the bottom of the book. You wouldn\u2019t want it to hit the table. But if you plan to hang it on a wall, it won\u2019t be necessary.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5031\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/Vintage-Book-Clock00004.jpg\" alt=\"Vintage Book Clock\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Using a cutter and a ruler, carefully make a hole where your clock would fit perfectly. See, every now and then, if you can close the book as if nothing is inside. If not keep digging, but do not cut down all the way through! And of course, do not forget to puncture the cover.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5032\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/Vintage-Book-Clock00005.jpg\" alt=\"Vintage Book Clock\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Add batteries and the hands, according to the directions in your kit and that\u2019s it!
