Cut along the line so that you cut through both halves.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5152\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/BrownLunchBag04.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Brown Lunch Bag\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Pin along the longer sides, making sure that the good side of the fabric are facing inwards.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5153\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/BrownLunchBag05.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Brown Lunch Bag\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Iron a margin of at least 1\/4 inch for an inseam on the sides you have pinned together.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5154\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/BrownLunchBag06.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Brown Lunch Bag\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then sew them. Do an overcast stitch especially for the rough edges to prevent from fraying.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5155\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/BrownLunchBag07.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Brown Lunch Bag\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then turn the fabric inside out so that you have the good sides. Iron again and pin. Sew the hem very close to the bottom edge.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5162\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/BrownLunchBag14.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Brown Lunch Bag\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now you\u2019re ready to wax it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5163\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/BrownLunchBag15.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Brown Lunch Bag\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Chip away beeswax and parafin wax so that you have 1\/2 cup of them each. Place them in an old tin can. Bring a pot of water to boil. Before placing your can of wax, bring down the heat at low temperature so that the water is not boiling. Stir the wax with a stick as it melts.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5164\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/BrownLunchBag16.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Brown Lunch Bag\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Brush the entire canvas bag with the melted wax. Keep the can on a hot water so that it won\u2019t harden while you are working. Feel free to brush more amounts at the bottom and seams to make your bag sturdier. The thicker the wax the darker the finish will be as well. Leave it to dry.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5165\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/BrownLunchBag17.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Brown Lunch Bag\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now this is an amazing part: Put your dried canvas bag inside an old pillow case and tie it up. Place it in a dryer in its highest setting for 20-40 minutes, depending on the thickness of your wax.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5166\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2017\/03\/BrownLunchBag18.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Brown Lunch Bag\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When you remove it from the dryer the wax should be completely soaked into the fabric. If you see any white spots, put it back on the dryer for another 10 minutes or use a blower to deal with small spots.
