I started by finding the relative centre by counting how many seams from the outside would fit the pipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"500\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-Step-1.jpg\" alt=\"Grass Hammock\" class=\"wp-image-4846\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-Step-1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-Step-1-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-Step-1-768x480.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I marked this spot with a silver sharpie. I then placed the pipe in the hook, securing it in place.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"1067\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-08.jpg\" alt=\"Grass Hammock\" class=\"wp-image-4837\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-08.jpg 800w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-08-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-08-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I then tucked the end of the carpet between the hook and the pipe to keep it in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-09.jpg\" alt=\"Grass Hammock\" class=\"wp-image-4838\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-09.jpg 800w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-09-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-09-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once in place use a few zip ties to secure the carpet around the pipe. The zip ties don&#8217;t add too much structure, they just keep the carpet in place around the pipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"1067\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-10.jpg\" alt=\"Grass Hammock\" class=\"wp-image-4839\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-10.jpg 800w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-10-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-10-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">The idea here is to have the tie-downs go around the pipe, this distributes the weight along the length of the carpet.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"1067\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-11.jpg\" alt=\"Grass Hammock\" class=\"wp-image-4840\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-11.jpg 800w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-11-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-11-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">Fold whatever is left on the sides around the ends of the pipe. This not only makes the top and sides look nice, and hides the hooks from the tie-downs, but I believe it adds some strength as well. Try and follow the seams with the edge of the carpet when folding.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-12.jpg\" alt=\"Grass Hammock\" class=\"wp-image-4841\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-12.jpg 800w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-12-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-12-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">Once it is folded put some more holes into the carpet and zip-tie it around the pipe. I used only 3 zip ties per side but you could add more. I thought it may be possible to sew the flap to the carpet and attach it to the top but I haven&#8217;t found it necessary yet.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" src=\"http:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-13.jpg\" alt=\"Grass Hammock\" class=\"wp-image-4842\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-13.jpg 800w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-13-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/theownerbuildernetwork.co\/project\/files\/2015\/05\/Grass-Hammock-13-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">Now that you&#8217;ve finished your DIY grass hammock, it&#8217;s time to put it to good use! Find two posts or other sturdy supports and attach your hammock for maximum relaxation.
