Enjoy!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"step-container\">\n<h2 id=\"step1\" class=\"step-title\">Step 1: Tools and Materials<\/h2>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-28923\" src=\"https:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2018\/01\/FE1JS9SGY65QHG1.LARGE_-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"701\" height=\"935\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"photoset-SGUQQSUGY4RG5PO\" class=\"photoset\" data-item-id=\"SGUQQSUGY4RG5PO\" data-item-url=\"https:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/Sawhorse-made-from-pallets\/step1\/tools-and-Materials\/\">\n<p>This is my list of essential tools and materials for this sawhorse from the pallets project. While it is not exhaustive, it is a great starting point. You will need:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"step-body\">A crowbar, wonder bar or nail puller.<\/li>\n<li class=\"step-body\">A claw hammer.<\/li>\n<li class=\"step-body\">A tape measure.<\/li>\n<li class=\"step-body\">A pencil.<\/li>\n<li class=\"step-body\">A speed square.<\/li>\n<li class=\"step-body\">A skill saw.<\/li>\n<li class=\"step-body\">A\u00a0 drill.<\/li>\n<li class=\"step-body\">A drill bit, for pilot holes, the same size as your screw shaft.<\/li>\n<li class=\"step-body\">A screw bit that fits your screws.<\/li>\n<li class=\"step-body\">2 \u00bd or 3&#8243; and 1 \u00bd screw. Coated, galvanized, or not, your call.<\/li>\n<li class=\"step-body\">A stack or so of pallets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have better, different,\u00a0 or want to use store-bought # 1 pine that&#8217;s cool. I used pallets because they are free for me and cheap for anybody. If you buy pallets be somewhat picky. \u00a0Pallets get used hard, often the wood they are made out of is not of decent quality for anything but pallets. Pick good pallets.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"step-container\">\n<h2 id=\"step2\" class=\"step-title\">Step 2: Cut List<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-28921\" src=\"https:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2018\/01\/F0KCRCGGY9ZICVC.LARGE_-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"701\" height=\"526\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-28922 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/project.theownerbuildernetwork.co\/files\/2018\/01\/FP92HHMGY4RG5UQ.LARGE_-1024x463.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"702\" height=\"317\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"photoset-S8BPWDNGY4RG5SI\" class=\"photoset\" data-item-id=\"S8BPWDNGY4RG5SI\" data-item-url=\"https:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/Sawhorse-made-from-pallets\/step2\/Cut-list\/\">\n<p>Start by taking the pallets apart with the help of a wonder bar or crowbar. Once the pallets are dismantled, use a nail puller to remove any remaining nails. Next, sort the lumber by type and size. Finally, cut the lumber to the desired length.<\/p>\n<p>I use my speed square as a saw guide. Fast and easy.<\/p>\n<p>From the 2x4s:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"step-body\">2 at 9&#8243; at 22% on both sides\u00a0 (7\u00be&#8221; on top and 9&#8243; on bottom).<\/li>\n<li class=\"step-body\">2 at 12&#8243; as square as you can.<\/li>\n<li class=\"step-body\">4 legs Your call here, 30 is standard, I cut mine for about a 36\u201d sawhorse so my legs are 34\u201d you could cut one of the ends at 22% for a fine fit. I didn&#8217;t but it would have looked nice.From the 1&#215;4 slats:<\/li>\n<li class=\"step-body\">2 \u00a04-inch wide, thickness is not critical, at your desired length. Then, mark the centre of the side of your\u00a0 12&#8243; 2&#215;4 on one end, and a line parallel to the cut 4 inches from the opposite end. Attach the legs to your Tees. The top edge of each leg should be at the 4\u201c mark from earlier. secure at the top, and on the angled brace, with screws.<br \/>\nInstall the 2 top pieces.<br \/>\nBrace 12\u201d up the legs(optional but strong).
