Growing Roses from Cuttings <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

One of\nthe best ways to propagate new roses is to take a cutting from an existing\nplant and grow it into a new rose bush. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\nshould do this on balmy, warm days in spring or early summer. Choose a time\nwhen the rose bush is undergoing strong growth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grafting Roses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Propagating roses through layering is also easy, but the method is only suitable for varieties with long, flexible branches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To use this method, all you need to do is to bend a sturdy branch into the ground and weigh it down to maintain its position. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nbranch will grow its own roots before separating from its parent plant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeding\nRoses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Seeding is the only method horticulturists use to create new varieties of roses or improve existing rose varieties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They collect the seeds from the hip – the red-brown fruit of the rose. They dry these before extracting the seeds, which they refrigerate for about two months before planting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most backyard gardeners don\u2019t have the time, expertise, or inclination to establish a proper rose hybridizing program.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caring\nfor roses is easier than you think. Plant your roses in a sunny location with\ngood drainage. Fertilize them regularly for impressive flowers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Water the\nplants evenly to keep the soil moist. Prune established rose bushes in early\nspring. You should also watch for diseases like powdery mildew or black spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some find the notion of growing roses intimidating. But the truth is, roses are no more difficult to care for than other flowering shrubs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
